An Open Communication Climate in an Organization Is Essential Because

If you are going to lead a successful business, you must create an environment with open communication and trust. Open communication allows your employees to be more engaged and understand that what they do matters in the success of the business. Making sure your employees understand the big picture and the part they play in the success of the organization will help them understand why decisions are made and how those decisions impact them specifically and the company as a whole. Effective communication will lead everyone to be on the same page; moving in the same direction toward the same goal.

Effective communication seems simple, but it does take effort. Management should communicate their goals as well as those of the company. Routinely talking with your employees about their goals, both personal and professional, will create accountability for both management and employees. When an issue surfaces, it must be dealt with immediately so everyone can move on.  Achievements must be recognized and communicated not only directly to the deserving individual, but publicly so all can take part in the celebration. When you create an open environment, it will lead to greater job satisfaction, reduced stress, loyalty and mutual respect throughout the organization with the outcome of creating a more productive work environment and a positive workplace.

  1. I like that you said it's best to publically recognize an employee's achievements to make sure that everyone is going to be part of the celebration. My husband and I want to own a business in the future. What we want is for our employees to feel that we care about them, and we can see how hard they are working for us.     I would add, and continue to say you have a great article, and that to stay competitive, employees need to be engaged and committed – willing and able to perform at a maximum level and give more. But high performance can't be mandated or delegated. To be successful, organizations must tap the strengths and passions of each individual employee. Full employee engagement occurs when an employee's personal values and unique definition of success at work intersects positively with the organization's financial performance. Executives need to authenticate and lead; managers need to coach, align and recognize daily discretionary effort; and individual contributors need to understand where their passions lie and what they're skill sets are, then perform and take control of his or her own destination. With a properly assessed internal brand and implemented employee communications program, effective employee engagement can and will improve over time as will company performance.

  13. I definitely agree that open communication and trust are important when you want to run a business successfully. This might also be the reason why annual team building programs are held by some companies where both employees and higher-ups are required to participate. In my opinion, it might be more exciting if they can opt for some intellectual activities like private escape rooms to let their employees' skills shine as well.
